ABOUT US

For me, CloudTears embodies the pain that is released by expressing my thoughts and feelings through the motifs.

We are a streetwear brand that sees itself as an art gallery using fashion as its stage. It is my dream to give greater meaning to my designs and perhaps some of them even convey real emotions.

This also means that our focus is not on the quick distribution of trends, but instead on the demand for high quality. In the years of preparation, our own perfectionism was both a driving force as well as the main drawback.

At the beginning, there was the question of the name. We wanted to create a neologism from words with initial letters representing our initials that would express the mood and theme of our brand properly.

After deciding on the first designs and ordering many different blanks for comparison, driven by the desire to tackle the project without help, we invested in a screen-printing machine. Already at the first attempt to coat and expose the screen-printing frames, it was clear that we would not be able to meet our own quality standards with our own skills. In order to meet our own criteria, we had to hand over the printing of the first edition to a Berlin textile finishing company. As we are from the Berlin area ourselves, it was important for us to find a local producer to facilitate direct exchange and retain most of the control over our product. By handing over the printing, we had new capacity to prioritize the establishment of the website.

We worked on the website for months, incorporating new designs and refining the user interface. There were quite a few phases during the project where I felt as though I was getting in over my head. As most of the processes were new to us, we had to learn many of the skills we needed on the journey to our destination. This meant that almost every step forward was accompanied by new challenges.

But after years of preparation, experimentation and countless mind changes, we are convinced that we have overcome the biggest hurdles and can now present our first collection of 200 T-shirts, divided into 4 designs of 50 pieces each.

And we are still at the very beginning...

We are curious to see if we can reach anyone with our art and how far we can take this vision.

TOPIC:

No matter what background you come from, sometimes worlds overlap. Personal and social problems cut across all classes and this is also reflected in your own environment. You would think that external influences alone are responsible for your own mental health. But the individual capacities, values and experiences from which one could not be protected even by the sheltered parental home require appropriate handling. However, the question of what is appropriate is also highly individual, so that the solution to a problem for someone else often means the beginning for another.

The confrontation with traumas, fears and addictions is an everyday situation for many of us and regularly leads to battles that we fight with ourselves.

Each of our motives represents one of my personal struggles, yet everyone should feel free to interpret them and add their own meaning to them.
